Talented Sooboog 2yo True Crime overcame plenty of adversity on Saturday at Randwick to win easily in the pouring rain on a bottomless heavy 10 surface, taking his career record to an impressive 2 wins and 1 2nd from 3 starts in his first ever race preparation.
True Crime with Tommy Berry aboard jumped quickly from the gates to travel on-pace over the 1200m trip and with the conditions atrocious, Tommy Berry steered the gelding out to the outside fence to try and find a bit better ground and even though he looked a little lost in getting out there, True Crime was too strong scoring by almost 3 lengths and taking his earnings as a $25,000 purchase to an impressive $148,000!
With the races called off after True Crimes’ win in the first event of the day, Kim was able to say she trained the program on Saturday at Randwick!
Being a 1st acceptor in the Golden Rose which is run in late September, as long as True Crime continues to do well in the stable the plan is to push on and have a crack at some of the better type 3yo races.
Congratulations to his owners and to all the team!
