Following a nice effort on debut at Newcastle when ridden quiet, Rose of Mahtoum disappointed 2nd up when ridden on pace at Wyong so it was great to see her travel off the pace at Muswellbrook on Friday and with the step up in trip to 1450m the filly by Capitalist relished the extra distance to sprout wings late and overhaul the short-priced favourite which had kicked well clear to score her maiden win in a thrilling finish!
Raced by the same connections as Kim’s G1 winner Mahtoum, Rose of Mahtoum was purchased for just 20k by her owners so it was a great result to win her maiden at just her 3rd race start!
