With the recent wet weather affecting all of Sydney over the last week, it’s nice to see the Newcastle track surface still rated as a Good 4 for Thursday’s meeting.

The stable kicks off the day with Trumbull resuming from a spell in the C2 boys over 1200m with Jason Collett aboard. The 3yo has trialled just the once, winning easily over 1000m at Newcastle. Just a bit of a tricky barrier draw in 7 from 8 but if he can get the luck early and settle on pace he looks a great top 3 chance.

Mighty Marmalade has been knocking on the door this preparation with no less than 3 close-up 2nds from her 4 starts, so she really does deserve a change of luck back into the winners circle when she competes in the C2 girls over 1200m with in-form apprentice Robbie Dolan aboard.

So Very Vein (pictured) resumed this preparation with a 2nd at Wyong before finishing 5th at Scone, so the stable is looking to see improvement when she lines up in the 1400m maiden with Jason Collett aboard.

Our final runner for the day is Holy Reign! The good-looking son of Manhattan Rain has certainly drawn the short straw with his wide gate of 14 of 14 but with limited suitable race options and with a good track surface on offer, the plan is to run and jump positive and hopefully settle in the first 4. The winner of 2 from 4 this preparation will be ridden by Jason Collett.

Good luck to all the team and all our owners!
