Brookwyn had run well on debut at Wyong in October, but Kim was left scratching her head when the 3yo filly failed to fire 2nd-up at Newcastle, albeit in a very strong maiden.
Dropped back in grade to a 1200m maiden at Port Macquarie during the week, the daughter of Hinchinbrook travelled on speed from her inside gate and ridden by Grant Buckley was too strong in the run to the line to score by a length.
