Returning to the races following 13 months off the scene, Daphne Jean certainly showed the small crowd at Gosford she hadn’t forgot what the winning caper was all about with a breathtaking 2nd last to first victory in the BM 64 over 1100m.

Returning from back surgery,  Daphne Jean had put the writing on the wall with 2 impressive trials but the extreme outside barrier on raceday was going to be tricky to overcome. Eased back toward the tail of the field by Tommy Berry, Daphne Jean was still 2nd last as they worked into the home turn and when brought to the outside on straightening she literally sprouted wings to mow the leaders downs and score by half a length.

With just 4 race starts resulting in 3 wins, Daphne Jean looks a mare with plenty of promise.

Congratulations to her patient owners and to all the team!
