Following a sensational first-up run where Conrad finished 2nd, reeling off some sizzling final sectionals over the 1100m trip on the Kensington track, everything went pear-shaped at his next run when stepping up in distance to 1350m to run in a heat of the Provincial Championships he pulled hard in front before weakening and pulling up with a bad dose of heat stress.

Given plenty of time to get over that setback, Conrad back to the 1100m trip on Wednesday at Canterbury jumped quickly from the gates and despite doing a stack of work to cross to the fence and lead, gave a great kick on straightening to find plenty in the home straight to score by half a length with 3kg claiming apprentice Jasper Franklin aboard.

Congratulations to all his owners and to all the team!
