Following his terrific win at Canterbury 2nd-up, Bethencourt raced at Newcastle and disappointed when found to have cardiac arrhythmia.
Sent back to the trials to requalify, Bethencourt won his heat at Warwick Farm impressively before heading back to the races and with the heavy track surface at Randwick on Saturday he made the race his own, travelling in 2nd place throughout before dashing well clear in the home straight to win by 4 lengths with Jay Ford having an armchair ride on the handsome grey!
