White Boots oh so Gallant in Tuncurry Cup!

Sep 10, 2018

Well we know that White Boots is tough but his run on Friday at Tuncurry in the Cup was another example of his strength and tenacity in finishing a close-up 3rd carrying 60.5kgs.

From his wide gate he was forced to race three wide for a good part of the early stages before finally working across to settle in 2nd position with the speed very genuine up front. Given a little-breather mid-race, he was slowly starting to improve before the home turn when a horse took off 3 wide and made Jean make his run much earlier than he would've liked.

Hitting the front at the top of the straight, he was challenged in earnest by Lady Evelyn who actually got a good long neck in front of him before he fought back strongly to go head to head. Just when you thought it was a match between these two Lamma Hilton with just 54kgs on her back stormed down the outside to grab victory with a pimple separating the three of them.

Such a gutsy effort from boots giving 7.5 kgs to the winner and 3.5kgs to the second horse.

All going well the gelding will run again at Warwick Farm on Wednesday week.
