Busy Weekend of Racing!

Aug 24, 2018

At least 6 runners are set to compete over the weekend at Newcastle on Saturday and Wyong on Sunday.

Oxford Gem and Holy Reign have drawn the short straw with wide barriers in their respective races at Newcastle on Saturday with Oxford Gem also in on Sunday at Wyong. Holy Reign hit the line strongly last start when finishing 2nd and should appreciate the step up to 1400m with Andrew Gibbons booked to ride.

On Sunday at Wyong Joy For Us (pictured) kicks off the day for the stable in race one with Josh Adams aboard. The mare has recorded a win and a second from just 3 starts since joining the yard.

Seeingisbelieving, another new addition to the Waugh stable, looked a touch unlucky last start at Newcastle when he was blocked for a run at the top of the straight before working to the line strongly once he finally found the open spaces.

So Very Vein impressed on debut at Wyong coming from well back to make solid ground late but had no luck last start at Newcastle. She should enjoy a much more suitable run from barrier 4 when she competes in the 1350m 3yo maiden.

Meiner Freccia backs up from his run on Tuesday at Muswellbrook where he finished 4th carrying 61kgs, to run in the 2100m Class 4 handicap. The gelding drops a massive 7kg in weight and should enjoy a lovely run from barrier 2.
