Manhattan Mist qualified for the final with a tough workman like performance finishing second behind Just Dreaming in the Wyong qualifier and has continued to tick over nicely rounding out his prep with a strong win at Gosford three weeks ago beating subsequent city winner in Marsupial. The bold front running gelding by Manhattan Rain has drawn better than stablemate Newsfan in barrier 7 and will look to take up a forward position. “Manhattan Mist is great, he hasn’t put a foot wrong since his last start win. He’s an improving type that continues to meet each challenge, he has never finished further back than second and I have no doubt that he will prove most competitive on Saturday” added Kim. Brenton Avdulla has secured the ride aboard Manhattan Mist, with the pair jumping from barrier 7.

Newfans has very similar credentials to her stablemate storming home over the concluding stages when finishing second to the highly talented mare Serene Miss in the Gosford heat four weeks ago. Like Manhattan Mist Newsfan has been a model of consistency throughout her short career with two wins and three second placings from only five lifetime starts. “Newsfan is great. She has shown nice ability and continues to improve with each outing, she is a very progressive type that has really pleased me both on and off the track, I can not fault her prep. Whilst barrier 12 isn’t ideal she will certainly relish the step out to 1400m and the big track will be in her favour’ added Kim. Andrew Adkins has been booked to ride Newsfan, with the pair jumping from barrier 12.

Talented race mare Hetty Heights steps out for the second time this campaign in the final event on the card race 10 The Group 2 Sapphire Stakes over 1200m. The Written Tycoon mare overcame a wide barrier to storm home over the concluding stages to finish third in the Group 3 Birthday Card Stakes on Slipper day and has continued to please Kim and the team both on and off the track and heads into Saturday’s event fit and well. “Hetty Heights is great, I was wrapped with her first up performance and she has certainly made nice progression stripping fitter, she is in great order and meets a very similar field to last start. Hetty Heights is a mare that like to get back in her races and from barrier 10 we shall look to find cover early and I’m sure with luck in running she will again be hitting the line hard again” added Kim. Andrew Adkins knows Hetty Heights well and once again takes the ride aboard the mare with the pair jumping from barrier 10.
